VR Forum #11: from Dave Fisher

Hey Dave, just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed VR's music over the years.  I've been a big fan since I first discovered you guys when I live in Alameda back in 86.  I use to come into Thin Mans and the Record Gallery on Webster St., but I'm sure you don't remember me.  The first time I saw you guys play was at in club SF across the street from the Stone, something...garden I think, can't remember the name now.  I believe this was the last live show with Gary and Terry.  The one thing that sticks out in my mind the most about that night was how cool Larry was.  I was only 15 at the time and they wouldn't let me in so my friend and I went around to the alley entrance to the back stage and managed to get in.  Once in Larry stopped us, probably thought we were trying to get in free, but I showed him the tickets you sold me and told him they wouldn't let me in because I wasn't over 18.  Well after talking for a few more minutes he let us through.  Tell Larry I still appreciate it 15 years later.  lol  The next time I got to see you guys was at the Omni.  This time with Carl and Mark, and I believe this was Mark's first live show VR.  Shortly after that it was time to move, pops was in the Navy.  I didn't get to see you guys again until the "Welcome to the Ball" tour, this time in Washington DC.  I still remember the surprised look on Marks face when after the show I asked him if he was still working at the Record Gallery in Alameda when not on tour.  lol  Well I hope you took the time to read this, I just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed your music.  I wish the "Welcome to the Ball" line up could still be together, but sadly that isn't possible.

RIP Carl
