Dave,
This letter concerns a show you guys did at the STONE in S.F. sometime in either '86 0r '87.At the time I was 16 and this was going to be the first time that I would see a metal show at a smaller club. You guys opened up for Armored Saint. I had just picked up the Soldiers of the Night record and was addicted to it. I was working part time at the Record Gallery in Alameda and met you. I was quite excited about going to this show. Metal was in its prime and little did I know that VR was going to give me a dose of the best! We arrived at the club when Armored Saint was doing there sound check, I was helping you guys move your gear inside. Larry enquires about VR's sound check time, and was told that we would not get any sound check at all! I guess that some bands get a little F**king egotistical after they sell a few albums. Larry gets really pissed off and starts yelling at these A-holes. Nothing gets resolved until I see Larry starting to set up his drum set in front of the stage and he starts his own sound check! He proceeds to go into what I would say was the most powerful drum roll and warm up that I had ever seen. It was great, but what was better was that because of Larry, Armored Saint was forced to stop there sound check and they all stared at Larry as to say:"What the f**k are you doing"... So Larry got his own sound check! The show went on and VR kicked serious ass that night! In fact, for a band that did not even get their sound check-you guys walked away the victors and owning the night...Truly "Soldiers of the Night".....
